On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink

Today is the 10th anniversary of Mean Girls, and as a huge fan of that movie, I felt obligated to paint my nails in tribute. I still can't believe it was released 10 years ago!!

The base colour is Reef-Raf from Sally Hansen. I painted the Burn Book on my ring finger using black, white and red acrylic. I'm really happy with how this turned out, so sorry for the photo spamming. :p

Hope you guys enjoy!

P.S. Stop trying to make fetch happen! :p

Fruit Salad

Keeping with my upbeat spring and summer designs, today's manicure is fruit inspired.

My pinkie is a kiwi, with a base of Sassy by Revlon and details with black and white acrylic. My ring finger is an orange slice. The white is White On from Sally Hansen, and the orange is Sun Kissed from Sally Hansen. The orange segments were divided up using black acrylic. My middle finger is a pineapple, with a base of Lightening from Sally Hansen. The leaves are Limestone from Sally Hansen, and the lines on the pineapple are Sun Kissed and black acrylic. Finally, my pointer finger is a watermelon. The base is St. James Park from Nails Inc., and the green is Limestone. Then I added detail using black and white acrylic.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Floral Fancy

When I first painted this design, I really wasn't a fan of it. But, the longer it's on my nails, the more I like it. So here it is: some stripes and abstract flowers inspired by a design I saw in Nail It! magazine.

The base colour is White On from Sally Hansen, and the stripes were made with a black striper. Then I started making the flowers. The blue is a mix of White On and Dreamer from Revlon. The pink is St. James Park from Nails Inc., and the darker purple is a mix of Charming, Plum Seduction and Dreamer, all from Revlon. The lighter purple is a mix of Hello Marshmallow from Essence and Plum Seduction. Finally, the leaves are High Line Green from NYC and Sassy from Revlon.

This design is really easy. The stripes don't need to be perfect, and the flowers are pretty much just layering blobs of different coloured nail polish.

So what do you guys think? Abstract flowers: good or bad?

The Cherry On Top

I'm really feeling the need to keep painting all these cheery designs. It is spring after all. :) Anyways, today's manicure is cherry inspired.

The base colour is Mellow Yellow from Sally Hansen. Then, I used a dotting tool and red acrylic to make the cherries, and added a black stem using acrylic, and green leaves using High Line Green from NYC.

Okay, that's all for now. Hope you guys enjoy!

Sunset Palm

And here's another summery, tropical themed manicure. This time, a sunset with a palm tree.

The base was White On from Sally Hansen, and then I sponged on Tomorrow Never Dies by OPI, Frostbite by China Glaze, Blazed by Wet 'N' Wild and Sun Kissed by Sally Hansen to create the sunset gradient. I then painted the palm tree with black acrylic. Super simple, but very summery.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Take Me To The Sea

The weather is starting to get warmer here in Southern Ontario, and after a total of 2 days warm enough for shorts wearing, I am wishing for summer more than ever. And that's what inspired this design.

The base is Pool Party from China Glaze, then I painted on the anchor and words with white acrylic. So this colour is actually more of a neon pink, but for some reason, no matter what I did, the camera picked it up more as an orange. Oh well. It's bright and summery, and that's all that matters.

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy, and I also hope the weather is warmer where you are!!

Project Semicolon

Hey guys! So today is Semicolon Day. For those of you who don't know, Semicolon Day (and the Semicolon Project/Project Semicolon) is a day that is supposed to bring awareness and acceptance to mental illness. The basic idea is that whether you personally have suffered from a mental illness/self-harm, you know someone who has, or just want to show support, you draw a semicolon on your wrist. It's supposed to mean that you are not giving up; that your sentence or story isn't finished. So in honour of Semicolon Day, I not only drew on my wrist, but also my nail.

The base is White On from Sally Hansen and the semicolon is black acrylic.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Break the stigma. #ProjectSemicolon

Smile!

We all need to remember to smile a little more sometimes, and that's exactly what my current manicure is all about. I decided to find a bunch of famous smiley faces and paint them all over my nails.

So this was supposed to be a full, 10 nail manicure, but the yellow nail polish I bought (Lightening from Sally Hansen) which was on most of my nails chipped off. Like chipped off after one day to the point I didn't even want to try fixing it. Anyways, here are the 3 nails that survived. They just so happen to be my favourite anyways.

My ring finger is the Nirvana logo (which comes as a good time as it was just the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death. The base is Black Satin from Rimmel, and the logo is yellow acrylic. On my middle finger, I painted the Red John smiley face from the show The Mentalist. The base is White On, and I painted the smiley face with watered down red acrylic. My pointer finger is the Blink-182 logo, and the base is also White On. Then I added a stroke of Plum Seduction from Revlon and Club Prive from L'Oréal, and painted the logo with black acrylic. My thumb said smile, but you couldn't tell if I showed you, because it chipped off after a day.

Hope you guys enjoy! And remember: Smile. Your enemies hate it.

Got My Suit On

Suits (one of my favourite shows) has its season finale tonight, and while some people may be wearing actual suits while watching, I chose something a little different. And obviously, it has to do with my nails. So, I give you, the nail suit.

Suit and tuxedo nails are some of my favourite designs, but I never paint them, so I took this as an opportunity to paint some. The base is White On from Sally Hansen, then I painted the suit with black acrylic and the tie with red acrylic. Super quick, super simple and seriously cute!

Anyways, I've got less than 3 hours to prepare myself for the season 3 finale! Talk to you guys later!

P.S. If you haven't seen Suits, I suggest you check it out. It's AH-MAY-ZING! :)

*Update: The official Suits Twitter (@Suits_USA) retweeted my nails! :)

Let's Do The Time Warp...

I was looking through all my nail art photos, and I found a manicure from Halloween that I never posted. And I can't figure out why I never posted it either...

Anyways, the nail art.

It's the lips from Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I have to say is one of the weirdest movies ever, but I still love it. The base for all the nails was Reveal Everything Red by ASP. Then I painted the black acrylic around where I wanted the lips to be, and added white acrylic highlights and teeth.

Well, that's all for this post. I think I need to go watch Rocky Horror now. And do the Time Warp.

I Love It

So I completely forgot I did this manicure! It's from a couple weeks ago, and I've seen so many heart french manicures that I really wanted to do one myself. And it paid off! I love how it looks, plus I got a ton of compliments on it!

I used French Rose from Rimmel as the base for all my nails. On my pinkie, I made the heart with St. James Park from Nails Inc. and then striped on L.O.L from Essence. My ring finger is a heart of Black Satin from Rimmel, and my middle finger is L.O.L. with polka dots of Let's Get Lost by Essence. My pointer finger is Let's Get Lost, and the criss-crossing is St. James Park. My thumb (seen below) is The Living Daylights by OPI, with a few dots of St. James Park. Finally, I outlined all the hearts with black acrylic.

I hope you guys enjoy this manicure as much as I did. Super simple, but it's pretty awesome looking!
