PUP & MOBO

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday! It was my brother's graduation, so it was a busy day, but I'm back with a post today! Back in November, I saw a concert with both PUP and Modern Baseball. You can see my previous PUP mani here, and my last MOBO one here.

Both my pinkie and my middle finger started with a base of... well I can't currently remember. I know it was China Glaze, but I'll have to double check when I'm home with my polish collection. I then painted on the Modern Baseball dog using black and white acrylic. My ring finger was a base of Liquid Leather from China Glaze, which I then painted PUP on using white acrylic. Finally, my pointer finger was a base of Sure Thing from Revlon, with Modern Baseball using black acrylic.

As always, it was a great show. Except for the part where a girl got injured at this show. She ended up being okay though, and I even saw her at the last Modern Baseball show I went to! But aside from that, it was a great night.

Until tomorrow,

I Love You... "I Know"

If that title doesn't ring a bell, WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOURSELVES? GO WATCH THE ORIGINAL STAR WARS. Okay, kidding, but seriously, Star Wars is good, so it's always worth watching, but I'm not going to force you to watch it. That being said, if you absolutely aren't aware, "I love you" and "I know" are an iconic exchange between the characters Princess Leia and Han Solo, which brings me to this mani from last December.

Pretty sure the base for these was Surfing Paradise from Island Girl Hawaii. I then went in with black, white, and brown acrylic to paint Leia, Han, and the speech bubbles.

Close up of Leia.

And one of Han.

So are you guys Star Wars fans? If so, what's your favourite one? As a little kid, I was always partial to Episode VI... mainly cause I thought the Ewoks were cute...

Adieu until tomorrow!!

The Force is Strong with this... Christmas?

Maybe Darth Vader likes being festive too, okay? Maybe he bakes cookies for Santa (with dark chocolate chips of course, cause the DARK side), and hangs ornaments throughout the Death Star...

Okay, maybe not, but these were some Star Wars Christmas nails I did back in December.

The base for these was Liquid Leather from China Glaze. I then sponged on Back In My Gloria Days from Nicole by OPI, Frostbite from China Glaze, Lady Lavender from Sally Hansen, Bizarre Blurple from China Glaze, and Dorothy Who? from China Glaze. I also added a bit of Sure Thing from Revlon, and painted stars using white acrylic. After that, I painted in Darth Vader (with antlers and a red nose) using various colours of acrylic.

Aaaaand close up time.

Also, a couple underwater shots to really show off the galaxies.

This is probably one of the most fun designs I've painted. 'Twas the season for Star Wars, so it just worked out well.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Escape The Ordinary

Here's a super quick and simple water spotted nail design I did.

The base on this is Sure Thing from Revlon, and I then water spotted my nails using Liquid Leather from China Glaze.

I love how simple water spotting is, and the way it creates such a beautiful effect!

See ya tomorrow!

Fantasia

I always thought the movie Fantasia was incredibly underrated, so one of my early designs of the year was inspired by Mickey as the wizard.

The base colour was Starry Starry Night from Essie. Then I painted on Mickey using acrylic paint.

If Fantasia isn't a Disney movie you've seen, or don't remember, I definitely recommend it!

Until next time,

I Lava You

Throwing it back to Valentine's Day, I painted some punny Valentine's nails.

The base for these was Sure Thing from Revlon. I then painted on all of the details using acrylic paint.

Some close ups.

So several of these were inspired by Society 6 artists work, which if you haven't checked Society 6 out yet, do it. There's tons of cool art (which comes on everything from t-shirts to rugs) over there. Super cool.

This ends today's post.

See ya soon!

Push + Pull

Friday was actually filled with two shows, one of which was July Talk. You can see my last July Talk design here.
The band recently released their new single, Push + Pull, which inspired the July Talk nail.

The base for this was Sure Thing from Revlon. I then sponged on some black, and white acrylic, followed by using the spotted water marble technique with Sure Thing. I added in some extra veining on the marble, then painted the +, and July Talk using white and black acrylic.

I 100% recommend seeing July Talk if you get the chance. They're one of those bands that is waaaay better live, just because they have such amazing stage presence and energy. They never cease to impress me.

On that note, it's time to end this post. See you tomorrow!

The Holy Ghost Tour

Sunday night, I went to see Modern Baseball for my second time.

They recently released a new album, Holy Ghost, and this was The Holy Ghost Tour. My nails were based on the posters for the tour.

The base coat was Liquid Leather from China Glaze. I then used black, white, and blue acrylic paint to paint the ghost and hand, and white paint for The Holy Ghost Tour.

It was an awesome show, and I can't wait to see them again!

Until tomorrow,

Wasted Love

Last night I went to my 3rd concert in 3 days, so the nails from those shows will all be up in the next few days, starting with today.
So even though my first concert was on Friday, I'm going to start with the Saturday show.

I went and saw City And Colour. It was a phenomenal concert, especially since I've loved Alexisonfire for ages, so getting to see Dallas Green (clean vocals for AOF) was pretty darn cool.

I painted the bird from his album cover Sometimes, starting with a base of Sure Thing by Revlon. I then sponged on light brown paint, and painted on the details with acrylic.

Might add a closer shot of this a little later, but for now, here's just the one pic!

Talk to you guys tomorrow!

Intergalactic, Planetary

I seriously loved having this nail design on. It was so vibrant and cool looking, plus, as an astronomy lover, rocking galaxies that I added constellations to was pretty fun.

To create these, I coloured blue, purple, and magenta Sharpies on my nails, then took a brush dipped in rubbing alcohol compound to blend them. I will make a tutorial on this. After a quick top coat, I added the stars and constellations using white acrylic.

My thumb is the constellation Orion, my pointer finger is Libra, my middle finger, Lepus, my ring finger, The Big Dipper (Ursa Major), and my pinkie, Cancer.

Better view of Orion.

So for me, in the game of astronomy vs. astrology, I definitely take the astronomy side. What about you guys? Let me know!

Gettin' The Led Out

Band nails art kind of my thing, if you hadn't noticed yet. One of my favourite bands ever (thanks to being raised on rock 'n' roll by my awesome parents) is Led Zeppelin. Fun fact: Led Zeppelin started out as the The New Yardbirds, but when the group was told they would "go down like a lead balloon", the name was changed to Led Zeppelin.
One day, I randomly decided to paint the album cover for Led Zeppelin I on my thumb, and that's how this nail art was born.

The base is Liquid Leather, and then I painted the details using white acrylic.

And because I'm a dork (with a love for Freaks and Geeks):

Cause John Bonham was the man.

Later babes!

It's a-me, Mario!

Well, if that title didn't clue you in, the nails in today's post are Super Mario themed.

The base for these was Sky Blue from Barry M. I then painted on 8-bit Mario using acrylic paints.

This was just a quick manicure to spice up a simple manicure during a busy time at school.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Bow Down... To The Higher Power

The Dirty Nil is a local band I've been listening to for a while now. Back in February, they released their first full length album, Higher Power. I went to one of their record release shows, and of course, I painted some nail art in honour of it.

The nail art is based off of the album cover for Higher Power (you can see the album cover here), which was painted by Alex Roulette. This guy took about 5 hours to paint.

I honestly can't tell you what the base on this design was, because there was so much paint layered on top. I'm pretty sure I started with Sure Thing from Revlon, with a bit of Surfing Paradise from Island Girl Hawaii, but I'm not positive. I then proceeded to add all of the detail using various colours of acrylic paints. To create the blue smoke, I used watered down white acrylic paint, as well as blue Sharpies with rubbing alcohol compound.

A super close up to see the detail.

I later added a matte top coat.

So because I had so many layers of paint and polish, the whole design literally popped off my nail in one piece... I've never experienced this before, but it was certainly interesting.

Hope you guys enjoy! And if you guys like some rowdy rock 'n' roll, definitely give The Dirty Nil a listen!

Tropical Watercolour

This design came about during the freezing cold (and what felt like never ending) winter here in Canada. I was missing summer like crazy, so I decided to bring the tropics to my nails.

The gold nails are Golden Eye from OPI. My other three nails all started with a base of Sure Thing from Revlon. For my ring finger and pointer finger, I used blue, pink, and yellow sharpies diluted with rubbing alcohol compound to create the sunset effect. I then added on the palm trees and palm fronds using black acrylic.

I'm happy to say the weather is nice here now, but a couple months ago, these nails were the closest thing I had to warmth.

See ya later!

Tropical Watercolour... Again

Before I painted the nails on the previous post, I had these tropical babies on. When I say the winter was bad here, I mean bad. Every time it seemed like it was ending, it started snowing again. In fact, it snowed one day last month... Yeah, not fun. So tropical vibes on my nails were really needed.

The base on all nails was Sure Thing from Revlon. As with the last post, I created the watercolour effect on these nails using Sharpies, and rubbing alcohol compound. To achieve this, I scribbled the Sharpies on a plastic container lid, then dipped a brush in rubbing alcohol and applied it to the nail. I'm going to do a tutorial on this technique soon, so keep your eyes peeled! Finally, the fine details were added with black acrylic.

Close up time.

One more shot of all the nails.

Hoping the weather is nice wherever you are!

Feeling Foggy

Here's a quick design I painted based off a design I saw on Society 6. I wasn't able to find out who the original artist was, so if anyone knows, let me know!

The base on my ring finger was Sure Thing from Revlon. The other nails were Liquid Leather from China Glaze. I then painted the man using black acrylic, and created the smoke with black Sharpie and rubbing alcohol compound.

See you for tomorrow's post!
